For those interested in learning more about the evaluation of arts and culture in urban neighborhoods, several case studies and summary papers conducted by the Social Impact of the Arts Project (SIAP), a research group at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice, are easily accessible on their website. SIAP’s research focuses on the relationship of the arts to community change, particularly in arts-based neighborhood revitalization and social inclusion strategies.
Employing statistical analysis and qualitative investigation, SIAP identifies and evaluates social impacts at the neighborhood level, with case studies predominantly located in Philadelphia. A full list of their completed projects so far are can be found here.
