Policy Priorities

NOCD-NY met at the Bronx’s Longwood Gallery, then again at El Puente in South Williamsburg, this fall to sort the group’s policy recommendation priorities.  Manifested through a combination of members’ personal passions and practical strategies, recommendations fell into four general categories:

  • funding and financing
  • regulations and rules
  • validation and promotion
  • the public policymaking process

This exercise is helping the group prepare for an upcoming New York City Council hearing, which will discuss the future of the city’s arts and cultural districts.
