COAHSI’s Culture Lounge

Thanks to a lead gift from Borough President James P. Molinaro, Council on the Arts and Humanities for Staten Islans (COAHSI) has slated the opening of a 2,500 square-foot Culture Lounge at the St. George Ferry Terminal by September 2012.  It will act as a “point of entry,” a meeting place and arts presentation space, for the local community and visitors from all over the world. The Culture Lounge will exhibit international and local artists focusing on place-based work that examines surrounding environments and communities, re-evaluates environs, explores livability, sustainability and social engagement. The lounge will engage ferry passengers as cultural participants, positioning them to interact with art and encouraging them to visit cultural hotspots on the island.
