‘Saints’ and ‘Ladies’ in the LES

The latest Fourth Arts Block (FABnyc) ArtUp scaffolding bridge exhibition, “Saints of the Lower East Side” by artist Tom Sanford, opens with a reception tonight at FAB Café. Featuring seven cultural icons of the Lower East Side, this public art installation has garnered some great media coverage (including an interview with WNYC) in its homage to some of the influential figures of the American avant-garde movement.

Tonight’s reception also celebrates the opening of a concurrent indoor exhibition, “Our Ladies of Infamy and Grandeur” by artist Graham Preston. This exhibition pays tribute to “the exploits, undertakings and legends of lost cultural heroines from the historical Five Points.”

Check out write-ups of “Saints of the Lower East Side” in The L Magazine, Art Nerd New York, Blouin Artinfo, and Hyperallergic.

Reception is from 6 to 8 pm at FAB Café, 75 East 4th Street.
