In the news: Fourth Arts Block and Queens Museum

Congratulations to NOCD-NY working group members Fourth Arts Block (FABnyc) and Queens Museum of Art for the public recognition they’ve recently received for their work!

First off, kudos to FABnyc for being selected as one of this year’s Rockefeller Foundation’s NYC Cultural Innovation grantees! The $200,000 grant will support FABnyc’s ongoing work, in partnership with Cooper Union Institute for Sustainable Design, in using the arts as a tool for engagement in transforming the East 4th Street Cultural District into a sustainable city block. For a complete list of this year’s grant recipients, please refer to Rockefeller Foundation’s official press release.

NYC-ARTS and MetroFocus highlighted Queens Museum of Art’s ArtAccess program in a recent article commending arts programs serving youth with disabilities throughout all five boroughs of New York. The Museum Explorers Club, a free program within ArtAccess, is designed for youths with autism and invites their families to come on Saturdays to interact with the art and with one another. This program serves as a model that’s been reproduced nationally. For more information on the Museum Explorers Club, contact
