Mark your calendars: NOCD-NY, Arts & Democracy Project and Urban Bush Women are co-hosting an interactive forum on how arts and community groups are re-imagining the use of a range of urban spaces on Wednesday, August 15.
“SPACING OUT: A Forum on Innovative Cultural Uses of Urban Space” invites artists, arts administrators, cultural and community leaders and policymakers to come together and share approaches, identify needs and challenges and develop recommendations for better policies and practices. Examples explored will include: arts programming in outdoor public spaces, vacant lots and construction sites; cultural partnerships in public buildings and religious facilities; co-programmed and managed spaces and creative re-use of existing properties. The forum will draw from and contribute to a series of space case studies currently being produced by NOCD-NY.
Details are as follows:
Wednesday, August 15, 9:30 am to 12 noon
South Oxford Space, Great Room, 138 South Oxford Street, Brooklyn
