October 14-16. Co-sponsored in part by NOCD-NY, The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond is offering an Understanding & Undoing Racism + Community Organizing Training for Educators and Artists–the ecosystem of people working with young people. Reserve your spot now! View details about the sliding fee scale below.
- How do we create anti-racist networks?
- How can our curricula in arts and in academic subjects reflect equity instead of constantly defaulting to European canons?
- How can we help dismantle racist institutions instead of offering young people tools for navigating them?
- How do our solidarity movements thrive or not?
The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond focuses on understanding what racism is, where it comes from, how it functions, why it persists and how it can be undone. Our workshops utilize a systemic approach that emphasizes learning from history, developing leadership, maintaining accountability to communities, creating networks, undoing internalized racial oppression and understanding the role of organizational gate keeping as a mechanism for perpetuating racism. This training, hosted by ACRE and European Dissent NY, is tailored specifically to teachers, cultural organizers, artists of all kinds, school administrators, and arts administrators—people who teach, work with, or design programming for young people.
