With a track record of new thinking about how to reduce crime and incarceration while strengthening public trust in justice, the non-profit organization Center for Court Innovation (CCI) has been selected to implement community capacity building components of the Mayor’s Action Plan for Neighborhood Safety (MAP) being spearheaded by the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ). MAP is a Mayoral initiative designed to make neighborhoods safer in and around 15 public housing developments.

NOCD-NY is pleased to have partnered with CCI to conduct sessions with MAP engagement coordinators at sites across the city to help them think about creative ways to incorporate arts and culture into their MAP Action Plans. In March, CCI hosted a Cultural Blueprint for Healthy Communities workshop. In August, we introduced a diverse range of Creative Transformations partner projects, then broke into groups to discuss ways that arts and culture can function as an engagement process and even a product of their Action Plans.
