On July 13, 2019, artists, cultural workers, small businesses and city agency staff came together at Success Garden during ARTs East New York’s Summer Saturdaze series for Cultural Marketplaces and Entrepreneurship, a peer learning exchange that discussed the values behind community-based markets and cultural entrepreneurship and the conditions needed for them to thrive. Creative leaders are navitaging complicated bureaucracies, managing logistics, and creating resourceful marketing strategies in an effort to build local small businesses and foster neighborhood gathering places.
