Maria Bauman, Urban Bush Women's Director of Education and Community Engagement, invited participants to experience the art, spirit and food of Fort Greene on a Municipal Art Society/NOCD-NY walking tour. Urban Bush Women is a contemporary dance company creating work at the intersection of art and social change.

The tour started at Urban Bush Women’s home in the A.R.T./NY South Oxford Space building (home to over thirty local arts organizations), followed by a visit to neighbors, including Tribal Truths original art & apparel, the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Art (MoCADA), longstanding local DARE Books and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Guests saw other treasures along the way, including stops to purchase mouth-watering food to suit every palate. The New York Times describes Fort Greene as "a bastion of African-American pride and culture...Brooklyn's latest culinary mecca...the artistic center of the borough."
