On Saturday, September 27, Citizens Committee for New York City, Naturally-Occurring Cultural Districts New York (NOCD-NY), and Friends of the High Line engaged the public for Sprouting Communities, a full day of peer-to-peer workshops, clinics and a book fair supporting neighborhood and community improvement. The afternoon included community discussions on innovative cultural uses of urban space and engaged participants around how the Particpatory Budgeting process works. We also organized arts and community workshops, including:

  • Stories Taking Root: A Writing Workshop, presented by Julia Hillman Craig, New York Writers Coalition

  • Stencil Workshop, Presented by Alejandra Delfin, THE POINT CDC

  • Dance for Every Body, presented by Marjani Forte, Urban Bush Women

  • Migrant Camera by Project Luz, presented by The Queens Museum
